As our month of Prestige Films: Past and Present continues, The Cinematroplis writing team found ourselves split over the controversial 2006 Best Picture winner, Crash.

Laron Chapman recently wrote a full-fledged defense of Paul Haggis’s film, calling it “a cinematic prophecy ahead of its time.” Kevin Tudor objected to Laron’s defense and challenged him to a Cinema Showdown.

This is a recording of that discussion.

It’s been twelve years since the infamously awarded Crash win. Looking back, was it really a terrible movie or just ahead of its time? Check out Laron and Kevin’s debate and let us know what you think about it in the comments below.
