It’s time to curl your hair and bust out your leg warmers, synth score, and cigarettes because, in this episode of The Cinematic Schematic, we’re reviewing director Rose Glass’s sophomore outing, Love Lies Bleeding, starring Kristen Stewart.

Panelist Built To Review Love Lies Bleeding

Traveling back in time to the 80s alone can be dangerous. To combat the lack of weapons safety and ghastly haircuts, hosts Caleb Masters and Laron Chapman are joined by some of the savviest genre experts in Oklahoma City. The Cinematropolis and Flick Attack contributor Christopher Shultz sits alongside exciting first-time guest and deadCenter Film Festival shorts programmer, Camila Chaves Rojas. Rounding out the crew is deadCenter Film Festival director of programming, Sunrise Tippeconnie, who watched the film at its Sundance Film Festival world premiere in January.

Left to Right: Christopher Shultz, Sunrise Tippeconnie, Laron Chapman, Caleb Masters, and Camila Chaves Rojas.

    Recapping the 2024 Oscars

    Time Stamp: 9:00

Closing out this year’s Oscars coverage, we discuss the 96th Academy Awards broadcast and award winners (and losers).

    The Awards Highlights

    1. Oppenheimer took home the most gold with 7 awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
    2. Poor Things was the second most favored movie of the night with 4 wins including Best Actress, Costume Design, Make-Up and Styling, and Production Design.
    3. Lily Gladstone’s performance in Killers of the Flower Moon lost Best Actress to Emma Stone in her second win for Poor Things.

A few questions we explore include:

    • How was the overall broadcast?
    • Why do the Oscars matter anyway?
    • What made the Best Actress loss for Lily Gladstone so disappointing?
