Welcome to the November 2017 edition of The Cinematic Schematic, the official podcast of The Cinematropolis! In this episode, each segment will focus on film experiences we are thankful for this holiday season.
The show opens with this month’s “Silver Screen Soliloquies” where Laron Chapman and I celebrate A24 in our spoiler-free review of Yorgos Lanthimos‘s new film, The Killing of a Sacred Deer. After giving our initial reactions, we dig into a spoiler-filled analysis of the film’s dark and weighty themes.
In this month’s second segment “Sound Trek,” Alexandra Bohannon picks out the film scores she’s most thankful for this year. Alexandra and I take a look at the rise in the popularity of synth scores since 2014 and how the bombing of Hiroshima impacted one of the most influential animes ever made.
