And the award for greatest 2023 Oscar predictions podcast featuring an Oklahoma filmmaker and an Oklahoma film critic podcaster goes to…

…you guessed it, listeners! It’s time to roll out the red carpet and polish the little golden men because, on today’s special episode of The Cinematic Schematic, we’ll continue our annual award season tradition by placing bets on our 2023 Oscar predictions.

Hosts Caleb Masters and Laron Chapman are back in our fifth-year pre-gaming the big night with our guesses for who will win, who should win, and other important filmmakers who should have been nominated in most of the categories.

To celebrate the continuing tradition, we’re joined by two first-time special guests from the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle.

Brandy McDonnell, an award-winning arts and entertainment journalist from The Oklahoman and also a member of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, makes her debut on The Cinematic Schematic to share her hopes, expected winners, and 2023 Oscar frustrations including the contentious Best Lead Actress race between Tár‘s Cate Blanchett and Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s Michelle Yeoh.

Seth Stuart, a co-host of The Reel Deal Podcast, also makes his first appearance to share his enthusiasm for films not nominated, disdain for Avatar: The Way of Water, and unexpected championing for Babylon in the technical awards categories.

Who will take home the gold? Will Top Gun: Maverick bring a major upset, or is Everything Everywhere All At Once destined to sweep the show? Tune in for the predictions you’ll need for this Sunday night’s big show.

Check out the full list of 2023 Oscar nominees here.
