The Cinematic Schematic continues our annual tradition of gathering OKC’s most ardent cinema fans for the most prestigious night of the year for movies. The Entertainment Answer‘s Matt Mungle and Oklahoma filmmaker Kaitlyn Shelby join hosts Caleb Masters and Laron Chapman for our 2025 Oscar predictions special.

2025 has been one of the most chaotic and unexpected awards campaign seasons in recent years. Anora (six nominations) was an early frontrunner and has received honors at the prestigious Director’s Guild and Producer’s Guild Awards. Conclave(eight nominations) won the SAG Award for Best Ensemble. The Brutalist (ten nominations) has had an incredible press tour, including winning seven Golden Globes. Despite controversies, Emilia Perez nabbed a staggering 13 nominations and still has support in key categories. Unlike the 2024 ceremony, when Oppenheimer was planted firmly in the lead, it is anyone’s game at this year’s Oscars.

Who will be king of the 97th Academy Awards? Listen to our in-depth 2025 Oscar predictions discussion for tips on how to make your ballot.

Take a look at the list of 2025 Oscar nominees here. Need a ballot to complete your 2025 Oscar predictions? Take a look at Letterboxd’s digital version.
